North Face Surge Review

By

The North Face Surge is a daypack that is suitable for the active lifestyles of the busy student, business executive, and active traveler. This state of the art daypack can be purchased in either a durable men’s' or women’s' model. It is loaded with features designed for comfort and will hold all of the day’s essentials.

Sized to fit most reasonable sized laptop computers that are 15 inches to 17 inches it has plenty of room for all of the other miscellaneous electronic devices, spare, batteries, and power cords. North Face has put a great deal of research into this daypack and ultimately delivered a product that raises the bar in its category. Among the many features are top-access pockets, a zippered bottom “power cord” compartment, dual access front pockets, side stretch-woven water bottle pockets, reflective hits for increased nighttime visibility, and fully adjustable straps. The tuck-away hip belt is a well thought out convenient feature and it comes with a sternum strap between the shoulder straps that tends to help with heavier loads which is a feature that is typically not common on a day-pack in this category.

Designed to accommodate a busy day around campus or town, day trip, or vacation this pack is the right choice. For those concerned about weight it comes in at a whopping 3 pounds, 1 ounce. Its volume is 2015 square inches or (33 liters) and its dimensions are 20 inches x 13.5 inches x 9.5 inches.

In terms of functionality the North Face Surge has it all but equally as impressive is the comfort and durability that it offers. The padded Airmesh breathable back panel makes it comfortable and contributes to the overall unobtrusive feel and presence of the pack. The ergonomics are such that the load is carried up higher up on the back resulting in a day-pack that is more comfortable and efficient other day-packs. The tuck-away hip belt is a well thought out convenient feature and it comes with a sternum strap that helps with heavier loads that is typically not common on a daypack in this category.

The North Face Surge is a winning pick! Varieties of colors are available for this modestly priced day-pack which is around $115.00 at most retailers. Constructed from high durability ballistic nylon that is abrasion, moisture and tear resistant it provides the excellent long lasting durability that North Face is known for.
